Competent Inspector Level I – Time: 4 hr.
Four hour basic inspection program designed to prepare the student to perform Level 1 Inspections. This course prepares the student to perform initial and frequent sling and basic hardware inspections as per the applicable B.30 Standards.
Competent Inspector Level II – Time: 8 hr.
Eight hour inspection program covering periodic inspection criteria and techniques for slings and rigging hardware as described in ASME B30.9, B30.10 and B30.26 standards. This program prepares the student with inspection experience to adhere to regulatory requirements while giving the beginner preparatory skills in preparation of becoming a skilled qualified rigger.
Qualified Inspector – Time: 16 hr.
Sixteen hours of intense study covering periodic inspection criteria and techniques for slings and rigging hardware as described in ASME B30.9, B30.10, B30.20 and B30.26 standards. Approximately half of this course is hands-on inspection of gear which was actually damaged in the field. This program is designed to build the inspector’s confidence in the inspection techniques and improve their decision making skills.
Periodic Manual Hoist Inspection – Time: 4 hr.
This half day course is an in depth study on periodic inspection criteria and techniques for both manual lever and hand chain operated chain hoists. The course follows standards as described in ASME B30.16, B30.21, OSHA, HMI and manufacturer requirements. Designed to build the inspector’s confidence in inspection techniques and improve decision making skills, participants spend approximately half of the course in hands-on inspection and dismantling of lever and hand chain hoists as required.
